Who is Michelle Hughes?

Michelle Hughes, school-leader, teacher, coach, writer, and parent, has more than thirty years of experience working  in a variety of school settings with a diversity of learners.

As a public school teacher in inclusive fifth and sixth grade classrooms ,  Michelle developed the perspective that the overwhelming majority of students – whether they possess learning differences or not – need time, coaching, and instruction in strategies, skills, and habits that lead to effective studentship. As a team leader in public school, and as Division Director and Head of School in independent schools, she coached teachers in student centered practices that built self-efficacy and engagement. Out of these experiences, LARC was born.

Lark Symbolism …the lark reflects the inward journey that’s often associated with self-discovery.  This goes hand in hand with its singing, something that, for humans, is often considered a private activity and a deep reflection of inner self.  The lark encourages us to explore our inner selves and sing out loud. .(Information from Ted Andrews’s Animal-Speak, Jessica Dawn Palmer’s Animal Wisdom, and Steven D.
